Mark Hewitt, Chairman and Founder of a "Private Holding Company" with a group focused on technology and real-estate investments; he is dedicated to developing sustainable industry and community partnerships. Mr. Hewitt’s cradle to cradle vision of systems, utilities, and development won the role of developing the sustainable utility design for the Babcock Ranch recently announced as the Nation’s first all solar city.
Awarded Technology Professional of the year 2010 by the prestigious Who’s Who organization, Mr. Hewitt started his career in Alaska, where his private paging network became one of the first of its kind. Elected to the local city council, followed by an election to the Public Utilities Board, where he served as Chairman, his oversight of the combined utility system included telephone, electric, water, sewer, and steam/hot water utilities.
He later joined Motorola Communications, where he first worked on designing the trunk radio system (core to the Nextel system), the ARDIS Network (core to the Blackberry system), and finally, the IRIDIUM system in the areas of ground segment support and network design.
Mr. Hewitt then joined I-Link as Sr. Vice President of Business Development and Product Marketing. There he launched the first softswitch/IAD in the United States. The associated service became the first national broadband voice network in the United States.
Following I-Link's successful venture, Mr. Hewitt has operated as CTO at several communications, portal, and entertainment device companies.
Today, his focus is on developing “MicroCities” and the corresponding services platform to drive function and economics. Today his leadership in “Circular Economics” and new FinTech banking software and systems has led to the development of several "MicroCity" projects.
