Shahrokh Mortazavi

Shahrokh Mortazavi has been the Python Czar at Microsoft since 2011 where he lead the development of Python in Visual Studio and VS Code IDEs, Azure (Jupyter) Notebooks, and Azure Python SDKs, and generally promoted the adoption of OSS and specifically the Python ecosystem. Previously, he was in the High-Performance Computing group at Microsoft.

He worked on the Phoenix Compiler toolchain (code gen, opt, analysis, JITs) at Microsoft Research and prior to that, led Sun Microsystems’ Code Generation & Optimization compiler backend teams for 10 years.
