Senior Geologist at Nunaoil

Thomas Varming is a Senior Geologist at Nunaoil, a position they have held since July 2014. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Geologist and Special Advisor at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals Resources from April 2014 to July 2014. Their responsibilities there included licence evaluation, seismic interpretation, log interpretation, map making, and exploration strategy. From March 2013 to April 2014, they worked as a Geologist at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals Resources, where their responsibilities included licence evaluation, seismic interpretation, log interpretation, and map making. From October 2011 to March 2013, they worked as a Geologist at the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum, where they were responsible for hydrocarbon geology, controlling and supervising work programs for exclusive hydrocarbon license holders, preparing licensing rounds in Northeast Greenland, and evaluating and negotiating work programs in the licensing rounds in Northeast Greenland. Thomas also attached the UNCLOS project for the Danish Realm as the only geologist in Greenland and acquired seismic data in 2012 on a scientific cruise to the North Pole. In addition, they were responsible for the hydrocarbon part of the new 5 year (2014-2018) oil and mineral strategy for the Greenland Government. Thomas has also promoted Greenland’s potential for hydrocarbons on international conferences and exhibitions.

Thomas Varming attended Aarhus University, where they received their Master of Science in Geology.
