Sarah Whelan has a strong background in translational medicine and immunology research. Sarah worked at Nurix Therapeutics, starting as a Scientist I in Translational Medicine in June 2019 and progressing to Director of Clinical Biomarkers in July 2023. Prior to Nurix, they were a Scientist in Immuno-Oncology at Compugen Inc. from May 2016 to May 2019. Sarah also has experience as a Research Associate at Trinity College Dublin and completed their PhD in Immunology there, while also working as a Laboratory Demonstrator. Sarah had a research placement at Brigham and Women's Hospital through Harvard Medical School, during which they attended the New England Immunology Conference and received the AAI Janeway Student Award. Additionally, Sarah worked as an Examiner for Leaving Certificate level Science and Mathematics at the Department of Education and Skills in Ireland.
Sarah Whelan completed their education at Trinity College Dublin. Sarah obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Immunology from 2007 to 2011. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the same field from 2011 to 2015. Prior to attending Trinity College Dublin, they completed their high school education at Loreto College, where they studied Biology, Chemistry, Geography, English, Irish, Maths, and Spanish. In addition to their formal education, Sarah also attained several certifications, including Drug Discovery by University of California, San Diego Certificate, LAST-Ireland and UK certificate, Biological Safety workshop, and MMI Techniques and Strategies Workshop.
