Marike van der Ben has a diverse background in marketing and communications. Marike started their career in 2002 as a Front Office trainee at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin. In 2006, they worked as a Praktikantin im Referat für Kommunikation/Summer School at Commerzbank AG. Marike then moved on to work as a Marketing professional at NETZSCH Geraetebau GmbH (Thermal Analysis) from January 2007 to July 2007. From August 2007 to December 2010, they worked in Marketing at LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz GmbH. Since January 2011, Marike has been working at NUSSLI Group, where they have held various roles, including International Marketing Specialist from January 2011 to March 2015, Team Leader Marketing from April 2015 to present, and currently serves as the Head of Marketing & Communications since April 2018.

Marike van der Ben has a diverse education history. In 1999, they completed their studies in HAVO at Willem van Oranje College in Waalwijk. Following that, they pursued a degree in Hotelmanagement at Hotelschool De Rooi Pannen, Tilburg NL, graduating in 2002. Marike then attended Avans Hogeschool in 's-Hertogenbosch NL, where they studied International Business & Languages, earning their degree in 2006. Additionally, in 2006, they completed a program in Internationales Management / Marketing. Continuing their education, in 2016 they obtained a DAS Weiterbildungsdiplom "Marketing Executive HSG" and a CAS in Intensivstudium für Kommunikation und Management from the University of St.Gallen. Moreover, they completed another CAS program in Intensivstudium Marketing-Management from the same university in 2016. More recently, in 2018, they studied Video, Kamera- und Filmsprache at Bildungszentrum für Erwachsene EB Zürich.
