“Nutag” means “small motherland”, “homeland” or “native land from Buryat and Mongolian languages.

We are indigenous-led emerging non-profit organization based in New York. was founded in response to a number of Indigenous Buryat-Mongolian People immigrating from Russia to the United States in the last few years. There is a critical need to support our people as they begin their journey as migrants. As many of them are refugees and asylum seekers, they face numerous challenges of resettlement while experiencing displacement from their native lands (nutag). Among them is Indigenous Buryat woman named Adiso. Please read her story here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/buryatrefugees

Our mission is to provide programs and services to Indigenous Buryat-Mongolian people living as immigrants and refugees in the United States and globally. We aim to help them build their communities, advocate for their rights, develop their culture, assist with resettlement and integration, and support environmental initiatives while recognizing the vital connection to their native lands.

Our vision is of a global society that celebrates and preserves the resilience and rich cultural heritage of Indigenous Buryat-Mongolian people. We strive to ensure that immigrants and refugees experience successful resettlement and contribute to strengthening their communities, cultures, and connection to their native lands.
