We are the Nutrient Density Initiative, a member-driven non-profit with engagement from those in food industry, agricultural and the environment groups, nutrition and healthcare space, as well as the farming and ranching community, linking regenerative agriculture and nutrient-dense outcomes in order to improve human and environmental health.

We aggregate data and research and are making meaningful nutrient density metrics widely and directly accessible to everyone, from farms to families, that will drive demand for a healthy food system by deepening awareness that human health is inextricably linked to the wellbeing of the soil, water, biodiversity of life above and below the ground, and the welfare of the human beings growing our food.

The opportunity for farmers, food company leaders those in food service/retail as well as nutrition professionals/healthcare practitioners to highlight the relationship between soil health and nutrient density can inspire a profound shift towards a food system that nourishes both people and the planet. When the soil is regenerated, it becomes a rich source of essential nutrients, leading to the production of healthier, tastier, more nutritious crops.

Our purpose is to ignite awareness and action around nutrient density to drive demand for a regenerative food system by empowering eaters to engage the direct connection between their health and the health of the food system.

Let's work together to meaningfully define nutrient density in food, and activate eater demand and use that demand as a primary lever for food system transformation, including deep regenerative agriculture practices, in service of planetary wellbeing.
