Catherine Schaefer

Catherine Schaefer is a seasoned HR professional with extensive experience in the financial services and real assets sectors. Currently serving as the Senior Managing Director and Global Head of HR for Nuveen Real Assets and Nuveen International since November 2018, Catherine oversees HR functions across diverse regions including Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Previous roles include Managing Director at Nuveen Real Estate, where responsibility encompassed global HR for one of the largest investment managers with $125 billion AUM. Prior to Nuveen, Catherine held various HR leadership positions at Deutsche Bank, focusing on HR strategy and governance, and at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, overseeing HR for Technology and Operations in the EMEA region. Catherine's career began at Marks and Spencer, focusing on regional HR management, following the achievement of a BA (Hons) in Geography and Sociology from the University of Hull.
