John D. Carter

John D. Carter is the current director at NW Natural. John started with the company in 1999 as a gas controller II. In this position, they answered customer questions regarding the start and stop of gas service, billing questions, credit questions, and emergency calls (i.e. odor complaints). John also trained new employees on the CIS system, as well as principles regarding starting and stopping service, billing questions, credit questions and emergency calls.

Some of their accomplishments include being a key team member that provided assistance on the Support Desk, managing escalated calls and being a subject matter expert for Customer Service Representatives. John was also the go-to person when employees or customers had a question about NW Natural's WARM program, the optional billing program in which cost per them is calculated based on actual weather vs average weather.

In July 2015, John was promoted to director. In this role, they are responsible for leading and managing the Customer Service team. John is also responsible for ensuring that customers receive excellent service and that their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
