Nicolas Robine

Director, Computational Biology at The New York Genome Center

Nicolas Robine has over 18 years of work experience in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics. Nicolas is currently the Director of Computational Biology at the New York Genome Center, a position they have held since January 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Assistant Director and Manager of Computational Biology at the same organization. Nicolas also worked as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist from 2012 to 2014.

Before joining the New York Genome Center, Nicolas worked at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as a Research Associate and later as a Postdoc in Computational and Developmental Biology. During their time there, they were involved in analyzing RNA-Seq data and developing pipelines for various research projects.

Nicolas started their career as a PhD candidate in Computational Biology at the Institut Curie in Paris, where they developed bioinformatics tools and analyzed ChIP-chip data for the study of meiotic Double-Strand Breaks in yeast. Nicolas also gained experience as a Master Thesis Intern at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Sweden, focusing on statistical tests for association studies and genotyping.

Additionally, Nicolas has a technical internship experience at the Centre National de Genotypage in France, where they worked on the European project of distributed computing DataGrid and used a cluster of bi-processors.

Overall, Nicolas Robine has a diverse and extensive background in computational biology and bioinformatics, with expertise in various techniques and technologies.

Nicolas Robine began their education journey in 1998 at ESIEE PARIS, where they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science. Nicolas successfully completed this degree in 2003. Following this, in 2002, Nicolas enrolled in Chalmers University of Technology, where they pursued a second MSc in Bioinformatics. Nicolas spent one year at Chalmers before completing their studies in 2003. Nicolas then continued their education at Pierre and Marie Curie University, where they pursued a PhD in Computational Biology. Nicolas began their PhD program in 2004 and successfully completed it in 2008. With this comprehensive education background, Nicolas Robine has developed expertise in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology.
