Kent J. Griffith has a broad range of work experience, beginning in 2006 with a Seasonal Employee role at Jacob's Family Orchard. In 2008, they worked as a Research Intern at a Biofuels Production Company, where they experimented with novel methods to expand usable input oils for biodiesel synthesis, reduced cost of quality assurance testing, and established a recycling program. In 2009, they worked on Undergraduate Research projects at Indiana University's Department of Chemistry, investigating ion funnels, selected overtone mobility spectrometry (SOMS), and other projects related to mass spectrometry and ion mobility spectrometry. In 2011, they worked on Undergraduate Research at Indiana University's Department of Geological Sciences, investigating the intercalation of small organic molecules into layered hydroxyluminosilicate minerals such as kaolinite and studying the provenance of a quartz pebble conglomerate in outcrop from the Mansfield Formation near Shoals, IN. From 2013-2018, Kent worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and PhD Student at the University of Cambridge, where their research was concerned with fundamental insights into complex energy storage materials and the underlying fundamental characterisation of atomic and electronic structure. In 2019, Kent co-founded Nyobolt and founded Niobe Energy LLC, a technical consultancy providing services to large international corporations and start-ups in and adjacent to the energy storage industry.

Kent J. Griffith completed their education history with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Chemistry B.S., Geological Sciences Minor, and Mathematics Minor from Indiana University Bloomington in 2013. Kent J. began their education journey at Blue River Valley Jr./Sr. High School in 2005.
