John Yoon is an accomplished reporter with extensive experience in journalism, currently serving as a Reporter for the Express team at The New York Times since August 2020. Previously, Yoon worked as a Reporter-researcher for the International division, contributing insights from the Seoul newsroom, and held the position of News Assistant in Graphics, where involvement in tracking coronavirus data led to recognition in the 2020 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service. Before joining The New York Times, Yoon was a Senior Writer and Assistant News Editor at the Cornell Daily Sun and completed internships with WRFI Community Radio and the Community Action Organization of Western New York, where data management skills were further developed. Yoon also served as an Administrative Assistant at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, designing efficient data structures. An alumnus of Cornell University, Yoon graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and German Studies.
