Paul Shucksmith

Paul Shucksmith is a data science professional currently serving as a Senior Data Scientist at NZ Super Fund, having started in May 2023. Previously, Shucksmith held the position of Lead Quantitative Developer at Kiwi Wealth from October 2016 to April 2023, leading a team that supported the operation of a $1.5 billion quantitative global equity portfolio. Earlier roles at Kiwi Wealth included Quantitative Developer and Python Developer, focusing on model-based investment decision systems and software engineering best practices, respectively. Prior to this, Shucksmith worked as a Research Scientist at MetService, where responsibilities included developing numerical weather prediction systems and improving weather model accuracy. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Atmospheric Physics, an MSc in Physics, and a BSc in Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics, all obtained from The University of Auckland.
