Alan McNicholas

Alan McNicholas has accumulated significant work experience in the technology industry. Their most recent role is as an Engineering Manager at O(1) Labs, starting in July 2022. Prior to this, they worked for Input Output (IOHK) from 2018 to 2022, holding various positions including Head of Quality, QA Coordinator, and Software Test Engineer. Before IOHK, Alan was with Ivanti from 2015 to 2018, where they served as a Senior Test Automation Engineer and Automation Engineer II, working on projects involving C# test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines. Alan also worked as a QA Test Lead and Automation Engineer II at Ivanti, where they were responsible for creating an automation framework and ensuring high-quality releases. Prior to Ivanti, Alan worked at Cisco Systems as an Automation Engineer and Scrum Master from 2012 to 2014, and at Microsoft as a Software Development Engineer in Test from 2007 to 2012. Alan started their career at Clever Stuff Ltd. as a Product Evaluation & Support Technician in 2004 and interned as a Software Test Engineer at Microsoft in 2003.

Alan McNicholas completed their education at Maynooth University from 2000 to 2004, earning a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Computer Science & Software Engineering. Prior to that, they attended Kiltimagh Community School in Kiltimagh, Co Mayo from 1993 to 1999, where they completed their Leaving Certificate. In addition to their formal education, Alan has obtained several certifications, including "The Python Bible™ | Everything You Need to Program in Python" from Udemy in October 2020, "Smart Contracts" from Coursera in July 2018, "Blockchain Basics" from Coursera in June 2018, and "Cisco Security Ninja" from Cisco (obtained month and year unavailable).
