R. J. McMahon has had a diverse work experience. R. J. started in 2003 as the President of St. Martin de Porres High School, where they were part of the founding team. R. J. then moved on to become the Director of External Relations at the Chicago International Charter School in 2006. From 2009 to 2014, they served as the Vice President at Fenwick High School. Following that, they worked as the CEO of the Robert Crown Center for Health Education from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, they took on the role of Executive Director at St. Giles School, managing non-academic functions. Currently, since 2020, they are serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Oak-Leyden Developmental Services, Inc., an organization supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
R. J. McMahon received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Boston College, where they attended from 1982 to 1986. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Fenwick High School between 1979 and 1982. Later, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago from 1992 to 1994.
