Shannon Jackson

Shannon Jackson is a Board Member at Oakland Museum of California. Shannon was previously the Associate Vice Chancellor of the Arts and Design at UC Berkeley from July 2015 to June 2021. In this role, they were responsible for creating new operations and collaborations across all departments, centers, presenting organizations, and initiatives in the arts and design for the entire campus. Shannon facilitated communication platforms, research initiatives, curricular innovation, multi-unit fundraising, public engagement, facilities planning, and global partnerships in the arts and design across the campus and with local and international organizations.

Jackson was also Chair and Member of The Budget Committee at UC Berkeley from July 2010 to June 2013. In this role, they worked with the Vice Provosts and Chancellor to evaluate all appointments, merits, promotions, and retentions across the entire campus. Shannon was also responsible for evaluating and recommending new search authorizations for all campus departments as well as devising and upholding academic personnel policies and new initiatives related to campus budgets and faculty welfare. Shannon developed and implemented new campus guidelines for assessing “creative activity” of faculty artists.

Shannon Jackson received a BA in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University. Shannon went on to earn a PhD in Performance Studies from Northwestern University.
