Aya Alshalal

Aya’s passion for education equity began when she became a refugee in Oakland seven years ago. As a newcomer, she realized that marginalized students are attending underfunded schools. She also experienced a classist and racist system that had not only pushed students out but criminalized them.

Aya has been part of the Oakland Ed Fund team for a year, and she looks forward to applying her coding skills and experience as an OUSD graduate to continue working at Oakland non-profits to ensure their students receive a quality education.
