Dwight R. Levens Jr. has extensive work experience in the field of technology and education. Dwight R. started their career at New Horizons Computer Learning Centers in 2000, where they worked as a Technical Instructor and Applications Instructor until 2005. Dwight R. then transitioned to Faith Christian Academy as a Computer Science Teacher from 2005 to 2008.

In 2013, they joined New Urban Learning, taking on the role of Manager of Information Technology as well as Director of Operations. Dwight R. held these positions until 2015 when they moved on to InspirED Education, where they served as the Director of Information Technology and Facilities for a year.

Dwight then joined Birmingham Public Schools in 2016 and worked as the Executive Director of Technology for five years until 2021. Dwight R. is currently employed at Oakland Schools, where they first served as the Executive Director of Technology from 2021 to 2023 and has since been the Chief Technology and Information Officer.

Dwight R. Levens Jr. holds a Master of Educational Technology degree from Lawrence Technological University. Prior to that, they attended Renaissance High School. Levens also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. In terms of additional certifications, they have obtained the Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification from the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) in May 2019, the SMART Notebook Certified Trainer certification from SMART Technologies in May 2014, and the School Technology Manager certification from the Michigan School Business Officials in July 2017. Dwight R. also holds an A+ certification from Comptia and the title of Chief Technology Officer from the Michigan School Business Officials. Additionally, they are certified in Elementary Education by the Michigan Department of Education.
