Lisa Hansknecht

Lisa Hansknecht is an accomplished professional in government relations and education policy, currently serving as the Executive Director of Government Relations at Oakland Schools since July 2012, following a role as the Director of Government Relations & Community Services. Prior experience includes serving as the Director of State and Federal Affairs at the Michigan Department of Education from 2007 to 2012 and participating as an Education Policy Fellow in the Education Policy Fellowship Program from 2008 to 2009. Lisa's extensive background in legislative affairs includes key positions such as Senior Policy Advisor/Deputy Director of Policy at the Democratic Central Staff of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1994 to 2007, and Legislative Aide in the office of Speaker Curtis Hertel from 1989 to 1994. Earlier, Lisa contributed to constituent services as a representative for U.S. Senator Carl Levin. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Michigan State University.
