Allison Henkel has a diverse work experience. Allison started their career as a Teacher at The Young Women's Leadership School at Rhodes High School, where they worked from 2004 to 2007. Allison then transitioned to Think College Now Elementary School, where they held various roles such as Director of the After School Program, Director of the Family Resource Center, and ultimately became the Principal from 2013 to 2018. Currently, they are employed at the Oakland Unified School District, where they have served as the Manager of Teacher and Leadership Growth and Development Systems from 2018 to 2021, and is currently working as the Sr. Director of Strategic Projects in the Talent Division.

Allison Henkel completed a Master of Education in Education Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2010-2011.
