Lauren Brown is an accomplished educator and leader in early literacy and science instruction, currently serving as an Early Literacy Coach and District Wide Teacher Leader at Oakland Unified School District since August 2014. Brown has played a pivotal role in redesigning in-person science curricula for distance learning and facilitating professional development for K-8 teachers, emphasizing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Notably recognized as a grand prize winner of the National Science Teaching Association Shell Science Lab Challenge Award, Brown has secured over $30,000 in grants to enhance science education quality. Prior experiences include enriching the lives of at-risk youth as an Academic Instructor, volunteering in Zambia, and providing academic support in various roles during academic tenure at the University of San Francisco. Brown holds a Master of Education in International/Global Studies from National University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of San Francisco.
