Mary Jo Schneider

Mary Jo Schneider possesses extensive experience in educational and administrative roles, currently serving as an Employee Development, Recognition and Retention Specialist at Oakland Unified School District since 2002. In this role, Mary Jo supports the Deputy Chief Talent Officer and acts as a department liaison for personnel matters presented to the Board of Education. Previously, Mary Jo was an Educator for Project SEARCH at Children's Hospital, teaching adult education and GED preparation. Additionally, Mary Jo runs a consulting practice and works as a freelance editor and writer, with contributions to various publications. Prior experience includes program direction at Invest in Kids Mentoring Organization and positions in technical writing and administrative support at National Building Inspectors and Armstrong Development, respectively. Mary Jo holds a Master's degree in Liberal Arts from Naropa Institute and a BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from Mills College.
