Project Coordinator at Obelisk Group

Kirsty MacSymon's work experience includes serving as a Project Coordinator at Obelisk since July 2020. Prior to that, they worked as an After-sales Co-coordinator at Escape+Explore from September 2019 to July 2020. Kirsty also served as a Travel Coordinator at Classic Escapes from February 2019 to September 2019. Kirsty worked as a Biologist at Apex Shark Expeditions from February 2015 to September 2019. Kirsty also worked as a Bird Rehabilitator at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) from September 2016 to March 2019. Before that, they worked as a Volunteer at the SPCA Wildlife Care Center, where they were responsible for cleaning cages, daily care of wildlife, and assisting with snake callouts from April 2014 to September 2014. Kirsty also served as a Game Ranger at the Mountain Zebra National Park from January 2012 to November 2012. Kirsty started their career as a Waitress at Magica Roma restaurant from January 2009 to September 2009.

Kirsty MacSymon obtained their matriculation from Cannons Creek Independent High School between 2004 and 2008. Kirsty then attended Cape Peninsula University of Technology from 2010 to 2013, where they pursued a National Diploma in Nature Conservation. Kirsty also completed a BTECH in Nature Conservation during their time at the university.

In addition to their formal education, Kirsty has obtained several certifications. In September 2014, they completed an accredited skippers course at James Denton. In October 2013, they received training in the handling and use of a manually operated rifle or carbine from Kettner Training. In February 2011, Kirsty took a snake handling course at the Cape Reptile Institute. Finally, in December 2018, they achieved certification as a tour guide through the CATHSSETA accreditation.
