Kristina Mani is a Professor and Chair of Politics at Oberlin College, where research interests include the interplay between domestic political change and regional security in Latin America, with a focus on democratization, political learning, and historical memory. Previous roles include Assistant Professor of Politics at the Christian Michelsen Institute, Affiliated Scholar for a research project on military-civilian relations in Latin America, and Co-Chair of the Latin American Studies Association’s section on Defense, Democracy and Public Security. Additionally, Kristina served as a consultant for Transparency International on the Latin American defense sector and contributed to the Regional Security Education Program at the Naval Postgraduate School. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University and a BSFS in Diplomatic History from Georgetown University.
