Ellen Johnson '33 Curator Of Modern And Contemporary Art at Oberlin College

Sam Adams currently holds the position of Ellen Johnson '33 Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at Oberlin College since May 2022. Prior experience includes serving as Curatorial Fellow at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum from August 2018 to September 2021, and fulfilling various academic roles at Northeastern University and Emerson College, focusing on contemporary art and media studies. In addition, Sam Adams has held visiting and adjunct faculty positions at institutions such as the Central Institute for Art History, Tufts University, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Modern and Contemporary Art from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree from New York University. Other notable experiences include a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston and work as a research assistant at the Getty Research Institute.
