Teresa Fraker, FACHE, RN, CPHQ, CBN, FASMBS-IH, serves as the Executive Director of the Obesity Medicine Association since October 2021, following an extensive career with the American College of Surgeons as a Program Administrator for the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Accreditation & Quality Improvement Program. Prior experience includes mid-senior level responsibilities at Genesis Health System, overseeing multiple outpatient clinics and managing a bariatric surgery program, alongside various nursing roles within labor and delivery settings at Mercy Hospital Medical Center and The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Teresa holds a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa, complemented by a nursing diploma from Mercy College of Health.

The Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) is the largest organization of clinicians dedicated to preventing, treating, and reversing the disease of obesity. Through unique, accredited educational resources, collaboration, and thought leadership, we continue to advance the practice of obesity medicine and deliver evidence-based treatments. We believe that sustained comprehensive, individualized treatment plans - improves overall health and provides hope for those affected by obesity. OMA members are physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers who take a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to treating obesity. This approach is comprised of nutrition, physical activity, behavior, and medication – OMA's four pillars.
