Jay McGilvary

Jay McGilvary is an experienced professional in the energy sector, currently serving as the Sr. Director of Development at Obsidian Energy Ltd. since January 2017. In this role, Jay directs the execution and capital budgeting of the development program across various assets, including Cardium and Clearwater. Previous positions include Director of Cardium and Development Manager for Peace River Oil Partnership and Alberta Viking, contributing to development strategies and secondary recovery efforts. Prior to Obsidian, Jay held leadership roles at Bankers Petroleum Ltd., focusing on corporate planning and new ventures, and at Apache Corporation as a senior geologist and project manager. Jay began a career in geology with roles at Husky Energy and Encana Corporation. Educational qualifications include MBAs from Cornell University and Queen's University, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Science in Geology from The University of British Columbia.
