Austin Merritt has a diverse work experience in the field of video game design and interactive multimedia. Austin started their career in 2016 as a Web and Graphic Designer at The College of New Jersey, where they created engaging content, designed posters, and contributed to website development. In 2017, they also participated in the MUSE Summer Research program, designing real-time networked game prototypes.

In 2018, Austin joined SMU Guildhall as a Level Designer, working on projects like "Big Top Trouble" and "Go Go Karts," where they showcased their skills in level design. Austin continued their journey at SMU Guildhall as a Level Design Graduate Assistant in 2019, also working on games such as "Mall of The Dead" and "Rhome."

In the same year, Austin interned at Gearbox Software as a Level Design Intern, gaining valuable industry experience on Project 1v1.

Most recently, Austin joined Obsidian Entertainment in 2020 as an Associate Area Designer. Austin worked on the expansion "Eridanos connector Islands," designing and implementing Points of Interest (POIs), coordinating with artists and narrative designers, and fine-tuning combat encounters. Austin also contributed to the "Grand Colonial Hotel" level, integrating exploration opportunities and enhancing themes through combat encounters and set dressing. In July 2022, Austin was promoted to Staff Area Designer at Obsidian Entertainment.
