Richard Moellering

Sr. Acquisition Program Analyst-saf/sqs Satcom Programs at OBXtek

Richard Moellering has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Richard started their career as an Assembly & Packaging Technician at Hedges Manufacturing in 1982 and worked there until 1992.

From 1993 to 1997, Richard served in the US Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer, where they gained comprehensive knowledge and experience in the design and operation of nuclear submarine engineering plant equipment. Richard also held roles as a Damage Control Assistant, Ship's Diving Officer, and Division Officer during their time in the Navy.

In 1997, Richard became the Chemistry and Radiological Controls Division Officer, responsible for the maintenance of records and equipment associated with submarine nuclear reactor plant chemistry and radiological controls. Richard also managed a team and served as the Training Officer for the ship's engineering department.

Richard joined the US Navy Reserve in 2002 as an ONR Experiment Support Training Officer, where they provided data collection and analysis for Tactical Network Topology experiments. Richard delivered technical experiment summary reports supporting the Office of Naval Research.

In 2009, Richard served in the US Navy as a CJ3 Systems Staff Officer during a wartime deployment to Afghanistan.

From 2000 to 2016, Richard worked at SSL as an In-Orbit Test Director, responsible for managing and executing all aspects of communications satellite In-Orbit Testing (IOT) for assigned satellite programs.

Richard Moellering's most recent role was at PESystems, Inc. from 2017 to 2018, where they served as a Sr. Acquisition Program Analyst for SATCOM programs.

Since 2018, Richard has been working at OBXtek as a Sr. Acquisition Program Analyst for SAF/SQS SATCOM Programs.

Richard Moellering attended Luther High School North from 1984 to 1988, where they studied various subjects, including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Social Science, History, English, and German. Richard then enrolled at Purdue University in 1988 and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Following that, in 1993, they attended the US Naval Nuclear Power School for a year, specializing in Navy Nuclear Engineering.
