OC Weekly
Joel Beers is an experienced theater critic, currently writing reviews for OC Weekly since 1995, where publication frequency has adjusted to one review every two weeks due to constraints. In addition, Beers serves as associate editor for Southland Golf Magazine, contributing to Southern California's premier golf publication. As the owner of Mugwump Inc., a freelance writing company established in 1992, Beers produces content for various clients, including public relations materials, stage plays, screenplays, and songs. Previous roles include Executive Producer for the Orange County Theater Festival, where a summer theater series was managed, and reporter for several daily newspapers from 1989 to 1996, including the Los Angeles Times. Beers holds a B.A. in Political Science from California State University, Fullerton, earned between 1994 and 1997.
