Isabel Merel

Isabel Merel is an experienced professional in sustainability and event coordination, currently serving as the Assistant Sustainability Coordinator at Occidental College since August 2023. Isabel supports climate action planning by analyzing GHG emissions data and co-designing an interactive emissions dashboard. From February to May 2024, Isabel assisted in delivering climate justice concerts as the Assistant Event Coordinator for Earth Sessions. Previous roles at Occidental College include Lead Intern for Sustainability Research and Implementation in Campus Dining, where Isabel successfully implemented a project to reduce single-use takeout boxes, and as Program Coordinator for the Office of Student Leadership, engaging students in sustainability-focused events. Isabel's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Urban & Environmental Policy from Occidental College, complemented by international experiences in Colombia and various internships focused on environmental education and community engagement.
