Paul Drouin is a seasoned maritime professional with extensive experience in marine safety, accident investigation, and leadership roles. Currently serving as Principal at SafeShip.ca since August 2007, Drouin focuses on accident analysis and risk assessment for safer marine operations. As the Academic Course Director for the Marine Accident Investigation Distance Diploma at Lloyd's Maritime Academy since March 2018, Drouin also contributes to education in the field. In addition, Drouin acts as Captain on the ASD trailing suction dredge Ocean Traverse Nord and has editorial responsibilities as the MARS editor for The Nautical Institute. Previous roles include Master for IT International Telecom and Inspector with Transport Canada Marine Safety, as well as a Marine Accident Investigator with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. Drouin's maritime career commenced at the Canadian Coast Guard, where an impressive 20 years spanned various marine leadership positions. Educational credentials include a degree in Nautical Sciences from the Canadian Coast Guard College and a background in Pure & Applied Sciences from Champlain College.
