Catherine Purcell

Aquaculture Genomics at OCEAN ASSOCIATES, INCORPORATED

Catherine Purcell is a Marine Resources Management Specialist at NOAA Fisheries' Southwest Fisheries Science Center since December 2022, and has been involved with Ocean Associates, Inc. in Aquaculture Genomics since December 2016. Previously, Catherine completed a National Research Council Postdoc with NOAA from 2011 to 2016, focusing on the genetic population structure of yellowtail and advancing aquaculture practices in collaboration with the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute. Prior experience includes serving as a Fisheries Biologist and Sea Grant Knauss Fellow at NOAA from 2009 to 2010, and as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant Mentor at the University of Southern California from 2001 to 2009, where Catherine taught various biology courses. Catherine holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Aquatic Biology from UC Santa Barbara.
