Hatchery Technician at Ocean Rainforest

Ann is joining the Ocean Rainforest team as a Hatchery Technician at the Santa Barbara location. She is a phycologist and received her Masters in Marine Science from Moss Landing Marine Labs and California State Monterey Bay. Her master's research focused on reproductive competition between giant kelp, Macrocystis pyrifera, and invasive Sargassum horneri. Her other research interests include algal taxonomy, phenology, and the impacts of climate change and marine heatwaves on algal community diversity and resilience. She is joining the team after managing the University of California Santa Barbara Cheadle Center's digitization of their Marine Algae Collection and teaching undergraduates in the herbarium.
