Jason Thompson

Chief Technology Officer at Oceankind

Jason Thompson is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Oceankind. Prior to joining Oceankind, Jason was the Head of Infrastructure and Special Projects at Groq from November 2017 to January 2019. Before that, Jason was a Project Founder/TLM at X, the moonshot factory from July 2015 to November 2017.

Jason's professional journey began as a Founding Team Member at Verily Life Sciences where they worked from May 2013 to June 2015. Jason was the first external hire on the team that eventually became Verily and helped define early R&D directions, was involved in recruiting and hiring 100 of the first hires, helped scope out laboratory space in three buildings, and kicked off a number of ongoing development efforts.

From January 2012 to May 2013, Jason worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Xerox PARC. In January 2008, Jason co-founded Boreal Genomics where they worked until January 2011.

Jason Thompson has a PhD in Applied Physics from The University of British Columbia and a BASc in Engineering Physics from The University of British Columbia.

They work with Mariko Powers - Program Officer, Lloyd Lee - Program Manager. Their manager is Matt Elliott, Executive Director.
