Aabid Shamji

Aabid Shamji has accumulated a diverse range of work experiences. Aabid currently holds the position of Lead - Special Projects at Ultraviolet, where they lead initiatives in FinTech, AI/ML, and Web3. Prior to this role, Aabid served as a Technical Product Manager at Ultraviolet, where they developed innovative blockchain solutions, implemented AI-driven moderation systems, and conducted A/B testing to improve key metrics. Aabid also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Ultraviolet.

Before joining Ultraviolet, Aabid worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa and as a Software Engineer Intern at SNAPP Analytics. Aabid also gained valuable experience as a Student Liaison and Deep Learning Research Assistant at Grinnell College, where they designed a georeferencing framework, built a training data generator, and implemented a Convolutional Neural Network. Additionally, Aabid held positions as a Teaching Assistant, an Information Technology Consultant, and a Data Science Intern at Grinnell College's Office of International Student Affairs and Office of Institutional Research and Analytic Support.

Aabid's early experiences include roles as a Senior iOS Engineer and an iOS Developer at Grinnell AppDev, as well as a Software Engineering Intern at Quantum-fig. Overall, Aabid's work experiences demonstrate a strong background in technical roles, with a focus on AI/ML, blockchain, software development, and teaching.

Aabid Shamji's education history includes a Master of Computer Science (MCS) degree with a focus on Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning from the University of Iowa, completed from 2019 to 2021. Prior to this, Aabid obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Computer Science, Neuroscience, and Statistics from Grinnell College, where they studied from 2016 to 2020. Aabid also participated in a study abroad program at AIT-Budapest during the academic year 2018-2019.

Before pursuing higher education, Aabid completed their International Baccalaureate Diploma at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, Kenya, from 2010 to 2016.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Aabid holds a certification as an Open Water Diver, obtained from PADI in July 2017.
