Francis Mah

Dr. Francis Mah is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in advanced corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery. Dr. Mah received his Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and his MD from Medical College of Ohio at Toledo, where he was elected into the prestigious AOA Honor Medical Society as a junior. He did his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was elected chief resident and completed his fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery.

Dr. Mah is the Director of Cornea and External Disease and the Co-Director, Refractive Surgery at Scripps Clinic Medical Group in La Jolla, Calif. He was most recently an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and in the Department of Pathology, as well as the Medical Director of the Charles T. Campbell Ophthalmic Microbiology Laboratory, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Mah has an extensive background in research and has been an investigator and principal investigator for many clinical trials and investigator studies. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters on his research and has delivered presentations in more than 25 countries on six continents. Dr. Mah is a reviewer and is also on the editorial board for several ophthalmic journals.

Dr. Mah is currently the Chair of the Corneal Clinical Committee, a committee member on the FDA Committee of the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Co-Chair of the Preferred Practice Patterns for Cornea and External Disease for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
