James Khodabakhsh

Dr. James Khodabakhah, who specializes in complex surgeries of the eye, currently serves as the chief and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center as well as medical director of the Beverly Hills Institute of Ophthalmology.

His road to medicine began when he graduated with honors from New York University and received the prestigious Presidents Service Award, the highest undergraduate honor at the school.

Dr. Khodabakhsh attended medical school at the State University of New York in Brooklyn and his internship year in general surgery was done at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC. He then completed his residency and was the chief resident at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary at New York Medical College, followed by his fellowship anterior segment surgery at New York Medical College, where he joined the faculty and is presently a clinical assistant professor at ophthalmology.

Dr. Khodabakhs, with offices in Beverly Hills and Torrance, has performed more than 40,000 eye surgical procedures and specializes in small incision cataracts, glaucoma, and refractive surgery. He has also performed live surgery and lectured in multiple countries around the world while becoming one of the most sought-after key opinion leaders in the United States and is a consultant to all major ophthalmic companies.

He has numerous publications in major ophthalmic journals including Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and Cornea. He is presently working on a book that deals with the complications of cataract surgery.
