Executive Director Clinical Operations at Ocular Therapeutix

Alet van Beek has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Alet is currently the Executive Director of Clinical Operations at Ocular Therapeutix, Inc. Prior to this, they worked at Viatris from 2015 to 2021 as the Senior Director of Global Clinical Operations. In this role, they built a global group responsible for inspection readiness and management, implemented a quality management system, and led a global rescue effort in inspection preparation.

Before joining Viatris, Alet held positions at Otsuka from 2011 to 2015 as the Director/Associate Director of Global Clinical Management. Alet interacted with health authorities for protocol development, networked with key opinion leaders for clinical trial development, and devised recruitment strategies to ensure timely trial completion.

From 2007 to 2011, they worked at Pfizer as the Director of Clinical Quality Manager/Associate Director of Program Study Manager. In this role, they implemented quality management practices, led the operational response team to a FDA Warning Letter, and successfully relaunched a pediatric program.

Alet also served as the Clinical Research Manager at Otsuka from 2005 to 2007, managing resources and personnel across various departments. Prior to that, they worked at BMS as a Protocol Manager from 1998 to 2005, leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple global clinical trials. Alet started their career as a CRA at Eli Lilly from 1996 to 1998.

Alet van Beek has a Master's Degree in Regulatory Affairs in Small Molecules, Biologics, and Medical Devices from Northeastern University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honns degree in Radiobiology from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria. Alet also holds a BSc Honns degree in Radiobiology from the same university. In addition to their formal education, Alet has acquired additional certifications, including "Managing High Potentials" from LinkedIn in March 2021 and "Project Management Professional" from the Project Management Institute in 2009.
