Environmental Data Scientist - Earth Observations at OECD

Mikaël Maes is an experienced Environmental Data Scientist with a focus on Earth Observations, currently working at the OECD - OCDE since June 2021. In this role, Mikaël develops science-based environmental indicators utilizing global geospatial data to aid countries in climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, concentrating on issues such as air pollution, biodiversity, and climate-related hazards. Prior to this position, Mikaël completed a Ph.D. at University College London, exploring the contribution of environmental data to decision-making, and gained practical experience as an Environmental Consultant at ERM and as a trainee at the European Commission's DG for Regional and Urban Policy. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science from UCL and Master’s degrees in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Management from King's College London, and Biology from Ghent University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Biology.
