Alex Rutherford

Alex Rutherford is a seasoned data scientist with extensive experience across various organizations, including a current role as Senior Data Scientist at Ofcom since January 2023. Previously, Alex served as a Senior Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute from October 2019 to December 2022, where management of a team and execution of applied research projects were key responsibilities. Other notable positions include Research Scientist at MIT Media Lab, Founder and Director of Data Apparel, and roles at Facebook, UNICEF Innovation Unit, UN Global Pulse, among others. Alex's educational background includes a PhD in Physics from UCL and an MPhys from the University of Warwick, complemented by studies in Arabic at Damascus University.
