Gary Rupert

Business Development Manager at Off Duty Management

Gary Rupert has extensive experience in law enforcement and academia. Gary started their career as a Narcotics Detective at West Shore Enforcement Bureau in 1988. In 1993, they joined Pittsburgh Police as a Master Police Officer and Detective, where they worked until 2016. Within the same period, they also served as the Chief of Police for Pittsburgh Bureau. In 2016, Rupert became a Washington and Jefferson College Police Sergeant. Gary then joined Pittsburgh Technical College in 2017 as the Chief of Police and later moved on to Point Park University as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Professor in 2007. In 2019, they started working at Off Duty Management as a Business Development Manager.

Gary Rupert received a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Point Park University, which they attended from 2001 to 2003. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Organizational Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University, where they studied from 2003 to 2005. In addition to their formal education, Gary also holds several certifications. These include being an ACTIVE SHOOTER INSTRUCTOR from the ALICE Training Institute, CPR- FIRST AID- AED certification from the RED CROSS, and a RAPE AGGRESSION DEFENSE INSTRUCTOR certification from RAD SELF DEFENSE, all obtained in October 2017.
