David Spain has extensive experience in the field of information systems and IT infrastructure management. David currently serves as the Acting Head of Information Systems at Offaly County Council since October 2022. Prior to this role, they were an Information Systems Project Leader at the same company since September 2019.
Before joining Offaly County Council, David worked at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland from August 2014 to September 2019 as an IT Infrastructure Manager. In this role, they were responsible for IT network administration using Cisco switch and router technology, HP switch technology, and VMware 3.5 to 6.
David's work experience also includes a position at RPII from January 2005 to August 2014, where they served as a Technician. There, they handled various tasks such as network administration, SQL server administration, VMware setup and management, Active Directory, MS Exchange 2007 management, and management of applications including Veeam, Backup Exec, Acronis, and VMware.
Prior to joining RPII, David worked as an IT Technician at the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) from August 1998 to July 2014.
David Spain earned a Diploma in Electronic Engineering at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology from 1995 to 1998. David then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Information Systems at Trinity College, Dublin from 2010 to 2015.
