Jamie Keairns has a range of work experience that includes being an Office Head at the Colorado State Public Defender, an Attorney at the same organization, a Law student at the University of Colorado Boulder, the Director of the Teacher Education Program at Kujali International, a Urdan Leaders Fellow at the Office of Senator Mike Johnston, a 6th grade history teacher at Inner City Education Foundation, and a 6th grade reading intervention teacher at Gompers Middle School.
Jamie Keairns completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Women's Studies and Philosophy from the University of Colorado Boulder from 2001 to 2005. From 2009 to 2010, Jamie obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree with a focus on Urban Education from UCLA. Lastly, Jamie pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of Colorado from 2012 to 2015.

The single overriding objective for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender is to provide zealous and effective representation for indigent individuals who are charged with the commission of a crime in Colorado. The right to counsel is established by both the United States and Colorado Constitutions.
