Colorado State Public Defender
Stuart Rubinstein is an accomplished legal professional with significant experience in public defense. Currently serving as Lead Deputy State Public Defender at the Colorado State Public Defender since October 2014, Rubinstein previously held roles as Senior and Deputy State Public Defender. Prior experience includes law clerk and legal intern positions at Vicente Sederberg LLC, a student leader in the Academic Achievement Program at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and a judicial intern for Judge Weishaupl at the 18th Judicial District. Rubinstein's early legal training involved serving as a student attorney in multiple clinics and internships, including roles at the Criminal Defense Clinic and Civil Rights Clinic at the DU Student Law Office. Rubinstein holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from SUNY New Paltz.
Colorado State Public Defender
The single overriding objective for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender is to provide zealous and effective representation for indigent individuals who are charged with the commission of a crime in Colorado. The right to counsel is established by both the United States and Colorado Constitutions.
