Thomas Smith-Vaughan's work experience begins in 2007 at Fidelity Investments, where they started as a Bank Reconciliation Specialist and later became an Associate Accounting Analyst. In 2012, they transitioned to the Office of the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Contract Analyst. Over the years, they progressed through various roles, including Payments and Vendor Unit Manager, Chief Statewide Payments Officer, CFO, and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer.
Thomas Smith-Vaughan attended Brandeis University from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
