Stephanie A. La Rue, Esq. is the Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). As chief of DEI for the intelligence community (IC), Stephanie leads the implementation of the national DEI strategy for the 18 agencies, departments, and elements within the IC. Before joining ODNI, Stephanie was the Chief Diversity Strategist for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Stephanie also served in CIA’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) in both the litigation and administrative law divisions.
Stephanie serves as the IC representative to various White House initiatives on advancing educational equity, excellence, and economic opportunity for various underrepresented communities.
In 2016, Stephanie founded the Latino Intelligence Network (LINK), a collective of Latinx Employee Resource Groups across the IC. Stephanie also served as chair of CIA’s Hispanic Advisory Council (HAC) where she established a relationship with the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. Under her leadership, the HAC was named “Top 25 Employee Resource Group of the Year” by Latina Style Magazine, Inc. During her tenure, Stephanie also served as a member of former CIA Director John Brennan’s Advisory Group on Women in Leadership, and the Diversity in Leadership Study. Stephanie is the recipient of the IC Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Award for Exceptional Service, as well as CIA’s Donald Cryer Award for exemplary contributions to Agency mission.
Stephanie graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.A. in Government and Politics. Stephanie is also a graduate of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
