Grendon Thompson

Grendon Thompson is an experienced leader, people manager, and economist who currently serves as the Deputy Director of Institutions for Net Zero at Ofgem, overseeing the regulation of the National Energy System Operator and related policy areas. Grendon has previously held roles such as Senior Economist and Head of Electricity System Operator Regulation at Ofgem, and has worked as a Senior Consultant at SQW, managing consultancy projects for various public sector clients. They possess extensive expertise in market design, price control, and power system operations, backed by a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of York and an MSc in Economic Development and Policy Analysis from the University of Nottingham.
