Manjula J. has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Manjula began their career as an Instructing Attorney at Interstate Legal Consultants in 1998 before becoming the Deputy to the Director Legal and Human Resources at the Public Enterprises Reform Commission in 1999. Manjula then worked as a Manager Human Resources at PwC from 2000 to 2002.

From 2003 to 2008, Manjula held the role of Administration Officer - Human Resources and Operations at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, where they managed various departments including HR, Finance, and Operations.

Manjula then worked as a Senior Researcher at DJ Consulting Services Ltd (Telecommunication Consultants) in 2008 before transitioning to the role of Human Resources Manager at Open Society Foundations from September 2008 to October 2009.

In 2010, they joined DJ Consultancy Services Ltd (Telecommunication Consultants) as a Senior Executive Resources Administration. From there, they moved on to work as a PSFR HR/Finance/ Operations Specialist at Private Sector Partnerships - UNHCR from 2013 to 2016.

Manjula J. pursued their education in a chronological manner. In 1990, they attended Sri Lanka Law College, where they obtained a Professional Qualification in Law, completing their studies in 1993. Following this, from 1996 to 1998, they enrolled at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, specializing in Business Administration and Management. In 1998, they further continued their education at PIM and completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree by 2000. Finally, in 2008, they obtained an Associate Membership of CIPD through CIPD Qualifications, focusing on Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration.
