Michelle McGowan

Michelle McGowan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Michelle is currently working at Ofgem as a Senior Expert Lawyer, a role they have held since June 2023. Before that, they were a Senior Legal Adviser at Ofgem from September 2021 to June 2023.

Prior to Ofgem, Michelle worked at Glasgow City Council for a significant period. Michelle started as a Solicitor in December 2013 and later became a Senior Solicitor in July 2017. Their responsibilities included providing legal advice and assistance on various projects, drafting contracts, and advising on EU procurement issues related to the Glasgow City Region City Deal Programme. Michelle left Glasgow City Council in September 2021.

Michelle also gained experience in the renewable energy sector as a Senior Compliance Officer at Renewables Unlimited LLP from December 2012 to December 2013. Michelle managed a team of compliance officers and contributed to the successful delivery of a wind energy project.

Additionally, Michelle worked as a Team Manager at Payment Protection Partnership from June 2012 to November 2012, a Solicitor at Harper Macleod LLP from July 2011 to April 2012, and a Sales Research Executive at CIGNA UK HealthCare Benefits from January 2011 to July 2011.

Earlier in their career, Michelle worked as a Trainee Solicitor and Student Paralegal at Dundas & Wilson from September 2008 to August 2010 and April 2007 to August 2008, respectively. Michelle also gained customer service experience as a Customer Sales Advisor at Barclays Partner Finance from July 2005 to April 2007.

Michelle McGowan obtained their LLB (Hons) in Law with French Language from the University of Glasgow, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Following that, they attended the Glasgow Graduate School of Law from 2005 to 2006, earning a Diploma in Legal Practice (DipLP).
